ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS

Professional diagnostic work to identify hardware, software, and

board-level problems.

Most repairs begin with diagnostics.

When a device is checked in, diagnostics simply means taking the time to properly investigate what is actually causing the problem.

Customers often describe symptoms, but the real cause may involve hardware, software, configuration issues, or deeper internal faults that require testing and inspection to identify.

Computers and electronics can behave in ways that make problems appear simple when they are not. Something that seems like a quick fix can sometimes require extended troubleshooting, multiple tests, or internal inspection before the real issue is found.

Diagnostics is simply the starting point that allows RodgersPC to properly evaluate the device and determine what is actually wrong. In some cases the problem is identified or even resolved during the diagnostic process. In other situations, deeper repair work may be required depending on what is discovered.

It’s also important to understand that not every repair requires diagnostics. If the issue is already known — such as a specific part replacement, hinge repair, screen replacement, or other clearly identified service — the work is simply performed as a repair service rather than a diagnostic job.

Diagnostics mainly applies when the problem must be investigated and solved based on symptoms or limited information. Each situation is different, and in some cases diagnostics may not even be necessary depending on the repair being performed.

You may also see some companies advertise “Free Diagnostics.” In reality, the time spent investigating a problem is still labor. In many cases that cost is simply built into higher repair prices later.

At RodgersPC, we believe in being straightforward about the time required to properly evaluate a device. Diagnostics is the time spent testing, inspecting, and investigating what is actually causing the problem. That work takes skill, tools, and shop time — the same time that could otherwise be spent on other repairs.

Charging for diagnostic time simply ensures that the time spent properly identifying the problem is covered. In some cases the issue may even be resolved during diagnostics. In other situations, deeper repair work may be required depending on what is discovered.

At RodgersPC, we take the time to find the real issue instead of guessing, replacing parts unnecessarily, or telling you to buy a new device. Because accurate troubleshooting is the foundation of doing the job correctly.

— because proper troubleshooting is the only way to solve problems the right way.
