Is Your Computer Actually Safe? A Virus Scan Isn’t a RodgersPC Security Tune-Up

Most people think computer security means running a virus scan and hoping it says everything is fine.

That is not how we handle it at RodgersPC.

A virus scan can be useful, but it is only one piece of the job. When a computer comes in for a RodgersPC Security Tune-Up, we are not just looking for obvious infections. We are checking the whole machine: what is installed, what is running in the background, what starts with Windows, what security settings are active, whether the system itself is healthy, and whether the computer is safe to hand back to the customer.

This is the difference between we scanned it and “we actually went through it.”

What We Mean by a RodgersPC Security Tune-Up 🛡️

A RodgersPC Security Tune-Up is not a quick scan and a receipt.

It is a hands-on cleanup and security review for a computer that may be infected, compromised, overloaded, misconfigured, or simply overdue for a proper checkup.

We look at the computer the way a real repair shop should:

✅ What is running?

✅ What does not belong?

✅ What is slowing it down?

✅ What starts with Windows?

✅ Are the browsers clean?

✅ Are the security settings correct?

✅ Is Windows healthy?

✅ Is the machine safe to keep using?

That is why this service works well for two types of customers:

People who already know something is wrong.

And people who just want peace of mind before something becomes wrong.

What We Actually Check 🔍

Every Security Tune-Up is based on what the machine needs, but the goal is always the same:

Clean it up.

Repair what is damaged.

Tighten security.

Make sure the customer is not walking out with the same problem waiting to come back.

We check installed programs for junk, scam tools, remote access software, unwanted browser add-ons, fake cleaners, trial antivirus leftovers, and anything else that does not belong.

We review startup items and background services so Windows is not loading unnecessary garbage every time the computer turns on.

We clean temporary junk, browser leftovers, update clutter, old cached files, and buildup that slows the system down or hides unwanted activity.

We check Windows health and repair damaged system components when the operating system shows signs of corruption, missing files, update damage, or broken system behavior.

We also make sure drivers, Windows updates, and basic security settings are where they should be before the computer leaves the shop.

---

Why a Virus Scan Is Not Enough ⚠️

A virus scan can tell you whether a security tool found something obvious.

That does not mean the computer is clean.

It does not tell you whether scam remote-access software is still installed.

It does not tell you whether startup junk is dragging the machine down.

It does not tell you whether browser settings were changed.

It does not tell you whether Windows itself has damaged system components.

It does not tell you whether security settings are actually correct.

That is the problem with “just scan it.”

A scan can miss the bigger picture.

At RodgersPC, we are not just looking for one bad file. We are looking at the full condition of the machine.

---

Browser Protection Matters 🌐

A lot of modern threats do not start with someone downloading a strange file.

They start in the browser.

Fake login pages.

Bad pop-ups.

Redirects.

Fake Microsoft warnings.

Scam support pages.

Malicious links sent from hacked accounts.

That is why part of our Security Tune-Up focuses on the browser side of the machine.

We check browser behavior, remove unwanted add-ons when found, clean junk that does not need to be there, and make sure browser protection is in place before the computer leaves our shop.

Because for most people, the browser is where the trouble starts.

---

Remote Access and Scam Tools 🚫

One of the biggest things we look for is remote-access software that should not be there.

Scammers often convince people to install programs that let someone else control the computer. Sometimes the customer remembers doing it. Sometimes they do not. Sometimes the tool is still sitting there after the scam is over.

That matters.

If remote-access software is still installed, the machine may not be safe to use yet.

During a Security Tune-Up, we check for that kind of software and remove anything that does not belong.

We do not want a customer leaving with a computer that still has an open door on it.

---

Windows Health and System Repair 🛠️

Security is not just about malware.

A computer can be technically “clean” and still be unhealthy.

Windows may have damaged system components, broken update files, missing pieces, driver issues, or background problems that make the machine unstable.

When needed, we repair the Windows system structure so the operating system has a better foundation to run from.

That can help with failed updates, strange Windows behavior, broken system features, crashes, and other issues that a basic virus scan would never fix.

That is one of the biggest differences between a scan and a real tune-up.

---

Cleanup, Startup, and Performance 🚀

Security and performance are connected.

A cluttered computer can hide problems. Too many startup items can slow the machine down. Junk programs can create pop-ups, tracking, redirects, and unnecessary background activity.

So yes, we clean.

But we do not clean just to make a number look good on a screen.

We clean because the machine needs to leave more stable, more organized, and easier to trust.

That includes removing junk, trimming startup clutter, clearing buildup, reviewing installed programs, and making the computer feel more usable again.

---

Protection Before It Leaves the Shop ✅

When a Security Tune-Up is finished, the goal is simple:

The machine should leave cleaner, safer, and more reliable than when it came in.

That means:

✅ Threats removed

✅ Junk cleaned

✅ Browsers checked

✅ Startup cleaned up

✅ Windows health reviewed

✅ Drivers and updates checked

✅ Security settings reviewed

✅ Browser protection added when needed

✅ The customer gets a machine that is safer to use

That is what people are really paying for.

Not a button click.

Not a quick scan.

Real hands-on work.

---

What It Costs 💵

At the time of this post, our RodgersPC Security Tune-Up is $131.99 before card processing.

If paying by card, the total comes to $134.62.

Prices can change over time, but the value is simple:

For what we check, clean, repair, review, and protect, this service gives customers a lot more than a basic virus scan.

It is one of the best peace-of-mind services we offer.

---

Who This Service Is For 👥

A Security Tune-Up makes sense if:

✅ Your computer is slow

✅ You had pop-ups or redirects

✅ You clicked something suspicious

✅ Someone remote-accessed your computer

✅ You had a fake Microsoft warning

✅ Your browser keeps acting strange

✅ You are worried about scams

✅ You want the computer checked before banking, shopping, or daily use

✅ You just want peace of mind

You do not have to wait until the machine is completely unusable.

Sometimes the best time to check a computer is before the problem gets worse.

The RodgersPC Difference 💙💛

We are not a big-box counter reading from a script.

We are a local repair shop in Belton, Texas, and we work on real customer machines every day.

We see the pop-up scams.

We see the remote-access tools.

We see the fake cleaners.

We see the browser hijackers.

We see the machines that were “scanned” somewhere else and still were not right.

That is why we built our Security Tune-Up around real bench work, not marketing language.

We check.

We clean.

We repair.

We protect.

We explain what matters in plain English.

That is RodgersPC.

---

RodgersPC Tip 💡

If your computer suddenly shows a warning that says to call Microsoft, stop.

Do not call the number.

Do not let anyone remote in.

Do not give payment information.

Do not keep clicking around.

Shut the machine down or disconnect from the internet and bring it in.

Need Peace of Mind ? 🛡️

If you are not sure whether your computer is actually safe, bring it to RodgersPC.

We will go through it the right way and make sure it leaves cleaner, safer, and ready to use.
